Why I wrote this novel:

Did you know the first free-standing temples in the world were built to honor the Great Mother Goddess of the ancient
world?  I traveled to Malta, an island in the center of the Mediterranean, to see its megalithic temples and
ancient statues for myself.  The experience was mind-blowing; this novel began as a way to convey that experience.

Very quickly I discovered that I could not imagine life--five-to-six thousand years ago--in a society that revered the
feminine face of God--without feeling a bit corny.  I decided to set the story in historical time--the eighth century B.C.--when the Phoenicians arrived on Malta’s shores and the Goddess was a fading memory.

Of course, every story is driven by passion. Like me, the heroine of this novel desires love and romance as passionately as she desires to be a positive force for healing in the world.

What do we do when our most passionate desires conflict?

This is the story of Nuriya, the daughter of a Phoenician father and Egyptian mother, abandoned on Malta as a child. This is the story of her journey into womanhood and the ordeal of becoming a healer. I hope you enjoy it.

WHAT READERS ARE SAYING:

Maybe it’s true that you are not Maltese but for us, you are one of us. You have ALL our blessings on your project. May your AWE and ADMIRATION for our island inspire others to unfold further our sacred and mysterious past.

I LOVED your book.  The history and culture (especially because multiple tribes/social classes were mentioned) were fascinating.
. . . Besides all the characters, the plot was fabulous as well, lots of unexpected twists and turns . . . I love, love, loved every spiritual aspect--it was fascinating and even comforting to read. It dealt with mature topics but not in an extremely graphic manner. I am a huge fan!
